Michael joined Archetype in December of 2012 where he spent his first 3 days on the job in an unheated mill building taking field measurements in below freezing conditions. He is currently part of the production crew creating working drawings for a wide range of the firm’s projects.
Michael went to Massachusetts College of Art & Design where he majored in Architecture and dabbled in portrait drawing, watercolor, oil painting and lithography. After school, he returned to Portland and worked for some small high-end residential firms drafting by hand. Michael has always been a firm believer in an architect gaining hands-on experience in construction as part of a solid foundation of design. He developed relationships with a number of local builders as a freelance draftsman, spent a number of years working for local millwork companies developing an in-depth understanding of wood species, joinery and large-scale production laminate projects & even operated his own design-build firm for a number of years building houses around greater Portland.
A lifelong resident of Portland, Mike married his high school sweetheart and enjoys spending time wreaking havoc in and out of the house with his two children, Lily and Noah, much to his wife’s dismay.
