Bill Hopkins

Principal Architect

Bill graduated from Pratt Institute in 1977 with a Bachelors degree in Architecture. Having grown up New York, Bill eventually gave up the city life for Maine and its coastline. Bill started his own firm in Portland Maine in 1978, working on a variety of commercial projects in and around Portland. Bill became partners with David Lloyd in the early 80’s under the title of Archtellic Architects. This firm, through many iterations, grew and expanded throughout the 1980’s and became Archetype in the early 90’s from which it has developed into its present form. Bill is truly “the developers’ Architect”, striving for excellence in design and bringing projects in on time and on budget. He is happiest working on very complicated, idiosyncratic projects which involve everything from difficult building code interpretations to a matrix of overlapping zoning bylaws.
